Which Toradora! Character Are You?

Toradora! is a slice of life, coming of age light novel series that has been adapted as a manga and an anime. It has no villains or evil plans. It is not driven by action. Instead, it has an interesting group of likable, complex characters with different motivations. If you are a fan of any incarnation of the story, you have probably found yourself able to really relate to one or more of the characters. You may see your own struggles in these characters’ storylines. Are you misunderstood? Unable to communicate your feelings? Do you love someone but find yourself unable to show it? You may even have wondered which of the characters you are most like. Perhaps you have the kindness and selflessness of Ryuji. Perhaps you have the independence and temper of Taiga. How would you do in the funny, loving, yet frequently challenging world these characters live in?

While she’s the first to admit everything she reads doesn’t necessarily stick in her head, Peg keeps her mind fresh by reading the Financial Post and Globe and Mail on the regular, and coming up with fantastic ideas for new quizzes. Did you know?

The show's name is deeply meaningful

The name of the series is a play on the main characters’ names that is also a mythological reference that reveals things about their personalities and character arcs. Taiga, the name of one of the protagonists, is a Japanese way of writing the English word Tiger. The Japanese word for tiger is Tora. Ryu, the first part of the other protagonist’s name, means dragon, so “Toradora” kind of means “tiger and dragon.” In mythology, the tiger and dragon are incredibly different, with the tiger raging and angry while the dragon is patient and wise. Yet, despite their differences, they share deep similarities and are linked together by fate. This duality reflects the main characters of this show, with the short-tempered Taiga, who attacks almost everyone around her, and the patient, wise Ryuji, who try to help each other out despite their vast differences.

(Two plus two will always be four, but every Golden Girls character is equally awesome.
