Titans is a show about young heroes and former sidekicks from across the DC universe teaming up to fight crime, defeat evil, and help each other deal with their issues. If you are a fan of the show, you must surely have wondered how you would do in the world of Titans. Could you handle danger when you have no real idea of who you are or where you came from? Could you learn to trust yourself when you know you can’t trust your own feelings? Could you honor what your father taught you while rejecting his legacy? Which of the Titans are you most like?
Jake didn’t think he’d become a writer when he was growing up in southern Saskatchewan, Canada, but fate had another idea. After barely squeaking through grade 9 English, by the luck of the draw Jake found himself with the most inspiring literature instructor his small town had ever known, and grade 10 English changed his life! Suddenly, evenings once spent at the hockey rink were spent curled up on the couch with the best of Hemingway, Dickens, and John Grisham. A valedictorian address and English degree at the University of Regina later, Jake is proud to call Heywise his favorite place to pen informative quizzes about all his passion projects. If you’re reading a post and pick up a hint of classic English literature, you’re probably reading something by Jake - especially if you come away feeling like a slightly better person for it.
Although the series Titans is the first live TV adaptation, the team has been around since the 1960s. Originally a team formed of the sidekicks of more well-known superheroes and known as the Teen Titans; the group debuted in The Brave and the Bold comic book in 1964. They were intended to be a team that young people could relate to more than the Justice League, and they often dealt with issues that particularly affected teens. They first appeared on TV, in animation form, on The Superman / Aquaman Hour of Adventure just three years later. In 2003, the wildly popular Teen Titans animated series propelled a 1980s version of the team to international fame, and the team featured briefly in many other shows in the DC animated universe. Two more animated adaptations later, fans started asking for a live-action version, which eventually resulted in today's series.
