South Park has a place in internet history
South Park is actually the result of one of the internet’s first-ever viral videos. In the early days of the world wide web, Trey Parker and Matt Stone made a couple of shorts and posted them online. The first of them involved a fight between Frosty the Snowman and Jesus, which was titled “The Spirit of Christmas.” The second of them involved a battle between Santa and Jesus. In a stunning fit of clarity, it was also titled “The Spirit of Christmas.” Both were made with a crude form of stop motion animation using figures cut out of construction paper. The second video quickly went viral, becoming so popular that it attracted the attention of major television studios such as Fox, MTV, and Comedy Central, all of whom wanted to turn the concept into a TV show. Comedy Central eventually won the rights, and the rest is history.
