Chantelle

Quiz WriterChantelle

Chantelle took to the written word like a fish takes to water. That is to say, she found herself immersed in literature from before she was born. She’s been known to tell her friends all about how she can still remember the passages she heard her mother read to her when she was in the womb - Emily Dickinson, Jane Austen, and a bit of Hunter S. Thompson thrown in to balance it out. Whether she’s whipping up pithy one-liners to tease your brain or busy working on her second novel (the first one is available on Amazon under a pen name she refuses to disclose), Chantelle has continued to keep her feet wet with words, as it were. You’re sure to get a kick out of her giggle-worthy explanations and outrageous hints, and still come away feeling like you’ve just expanded your knowledge base.

Did you know?

Sailor Moon helped revitalize an entire genre

You have probably heard of the "magical girl" genre by now. It's a fantasy subgenre that started in Japan in which girls have magical powers that they use to fight evil and save the world.  Sailor Moon was able to breathe new life into the genre. While the genre started all the way back in the 50s with manga like Ribon and in the 60s with anime like Sally the Witch, it was not until the 90s with shows like Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura that some of the more popular magical girl tropes appeared. Sailor Moon popularized the concepts of transformations, meaning that the main cast is a group of normal girls who can transform into beautiful heroines with a focus on their cute and stylish costumes. Other staples of Sailor Moon, like talking animal sidekicks, transformations, and unique magical weapons, are still popular tropes in the genre today.
