What Is Castlevania?
Castlevania is an adult animated series that is based on one of the most popular and critically acclaimed video game franchises of all time. The game’s creator has said that it was intended as an homage to the classic horror movie monsters from Universal Pictures and Hammer Studios. With the first game coming out way back in the 80s, sequels to the game and remakes of it have been steadily released ever since. Characters from the Castlevania games have appeared as guest stars in other video games. There are even spin-off games and parody games. Besides the animated series, the basic storyline of the games has also been adapted as a series of graphic novels and, again, in Japan, as a manga series. Even the games’ music has achieved critical acclaim and has been released on independent albums.
