Breaking Bad was on the air from 2008 to 2013, and the cautionary story of one of the nastier sides of meth production and distribution went over the heads of some. Believe it or not, in Texas, a chemistry teacher, William Duncan, was arrested for selling homebrew meth on school grounds. A math professor in Boston, Irina Kristy, was busted for running a meth lab out of her home in 2011.
After a suspicious purchase of 1,000 cases of matches, a North Carolina teacher by the name of Marc Hodges was arrested for some meth home cooking. Life truly began to imitate art when Stephen Doran, a Boston teacher with stage 3 cancer, was arrested for dealing meth.
Probably the strangest case related to one of our favorite shows took place just before the show debuted. An Alabama criminal worked his way to the top of the state’s Most Wanted list for his efforts in the meth industry. He didn’t have cancer, and he wasn’t a teacher, but his name: Walter White.
