Each year has a different corresponding animal including a rat, dragon, monkey, ox, snake, rooster, tiger, horse, dog, rabbit, pig, or goat. The Han Dynasty, which was from 202 BC until 220 AD, selected the animals and their order. Each animal has unique living habits and personalities believed to influence people’s everyday lives and character. The zodiac not only predicts how your year will be but also what other signs are compatible with a partner.
You can calculate your zodiac based on your birthday. Your birth time, day, month, and year are all relevant. However, instead of looking at the Chinese lunar calendar, take this fun quiz. We can guess not what zodiac you actually are, but which one you should be! Have fun!

Off to the races
The Great Race is a story that tells how the animals claimed their order in the Chinese zodiac. The cat and rat couldn’t swim, so they hoped on ox to cross a river to the meeting place with Jade Emperor. However, halfway through, the rat pushed the cat into the water, so the cat did not participate at all.
The clever rat jumped off the ox and leaped ahead, so the rat took the first year. The hard-working ox took second. The powerful tiger pushed through the strong current to earn fourth place in the zodiac while the rabbit floated on a log and washed ashore.
The dragon flew into fifth, but only because he had to stop and help make it rain for people along the way. He also gave the rabbit a push. The horse galloped into sixth and hidden on the hoof was the snake, which scored seventh place.
The goat, monkey, and rooster helped each other out by using a raft, so the emperor named them eight, ninth, and tenth animals, respectively. The dog came in eleventh place, but only because he was playing. He used the excuse of needing a good bath. Right before the emperor was about to end the race, the pig oinked his way across the finish line. Since he got hungry and fell asleep, the pig came in twelfth place.
