Who Sued Notch?
Mojang, the company that develops Minecraft, was founded in 2009. Mojang literally means "gadget" in Swedish. Speaking of names, in 2011, Mojang tried to trademark the word "Scrolls" for a game they were developing. However, gaming giant Bethesda issued Mojang a cease and desist letter, claiming that title would infringe on their game, "The Elder Scrolls." In the end, this led to a messy legal battle between ZeniMax and Mojang, with ZeniMax finally taking the trademark of "Scrolls" before licensing it back to Mojang. It should be noted that the Bethesda team had nothing to do with the lawsuit, even though it was their headline game that caused the dispute.
