The Enneagram Personality Test

The Enneagram of Personality divides the ways the human psyche presents itself into nine personality types. "Ennea" is Greek for nine, and "gramma" means writing or drawing, and the concept is based on researchers' observations. By answering these 30 questions, you can discover to which of the six most common types you most closely relate, and the revelation may help you understand yourself based on scientific observation rather than the stars in the sky or the drawing of cards. There are among us a few unique individuals, however, who fall into the three rarer categories not given here. If you are one of the few people who are sensitive, withdrawn and self-absorbed (Individualist); intense, isolated and cerebral (Investigator); or powerful, dominating and confrontational (Challenger), you're probably not too interested in this test anyway as you're likely firm in your opinions about yourself.

Did you know?

Enneagrams of Famous People

The Enneagram is a tool for researchers to further understand human personalities by looking at which people fall into each category and what other traits or life experiences they have. For personal use, the types not only help a person to understand him or herself by looking at how they think and act, but the Enneagram types also reflect people by the company they keep. While famous people of all types have primary styles that match each of the categories, there are also plenty of ways that well-known personalities wind up together, especially in the more rare and dramatic categories such as Individualist, Investigator, and Challenger. For example, writers Jack Kerouac and Virginia Woolf, along with Oscar Wilde and Tennessee Williams, are Individualists. Scientists Isaac Asimov, Marie Curie, and Albert Einstein join reclusive and insightful poet Emily Dickinson as Investigators. Politicians and leaders Napoleon Bonaparte, Lyndon Johnson, Saddam Hussein, and Winston Churchill were all Challengers. Once you've determined your own category, don't forget to check out lists of famous people and their Enneagrams and see what company you keep!
