IDK What LMK Means. Do U?

If you really don't know what LMK means, then you are either unlucky, or you're going to fail this quiz. But please don't let that discourage you. This quiz will not only allow you test your knowledge but also learn a lot in the process. With so many acronyms to go through, you'll be speaking like a 13-year-old before the day is over! Surely, no matter how internet savvy you are, you'll learn a thing or two. And no matter how old school you are you'll know a thing or two already.

For example, did you know that FTW has two meanings? One is not so nice, but another is just an innocent FTW used to express yourself when you really like something or are cheering for it. However, WTF is always used to represent words that aren't' allowed on live TV. Of course, you already know that right?

Whether you do or you don't is private info, but if you want to test yourself then go ahead and take this quiz to see how good your internet acronym knowledge is. LMK when you're ready, but we GTG soon!

Did you know?

Acronyms Are Older Than Jesus

Acronyms were used in Rome before the Christian era! To get an idea of it, the official name of the Roman Empire was abbreviated as SPQR (Senatus Populusque Romanus). There are also some really old inscriptions on stone and coins that jam pack acronyms on there to make room for all that needs to be said. For example, "F" was used for filius, which meant "son of," a very common part of memorial inscriptions.

Even the old biblical scripts had many abbreviations to save room since they had to write on stone tablets. Words like "God" (Θεός), "Jesus" (Ιησούς), and "Christ" (Χριστός), would be written using only the first and last letters. This would save not just material, but valuable time.

In fact, this is where the Jesus fish began. It was an easy to inscribe symbol of Christ. It was used because fish in Greek is ichthys (ΙΧΘΥΣ), which stands for Ἰησοῦς Χριστός Θεοῦ Υἱός Σωτήρ (Iesous CHristos THeou hUios Soter: "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior").

Ask anyone who uses the Jewish Bible, and they can name more than a few acronyms in their Bible that are still used today. So it’s true you can say that the Romans created acronyms and text talk while the Hebrews and Greeks popularized it.

Oddly enough, it wasn’t until the 19th century, that the American and European businesses and citizens started using acronyms! Even though they may be more useful than the wheel! Today, nearly every business in existence has an acronym, and we unknowingly use them every single day! It’s all Greek to us!
