Halo: Combat Evolved was originally a PC game?
It’s hard to imagine Halo as anything but an Xbox title. Not only is it arguably the most iconic game for the console, but it also was one of the best reasons to purchase an Xbox. However, before they were acquired by Microsoft, Bungie Studios planned to release the game on macOS and Windows. In fact, the game was first announced at the 1999 Macworld Conference & Expo. The move to Xbox forced a number of changes, and a significant amount of content had to be reworked or completely cut. Ultimately, the developers’ struggles gave birth to a multi-billion dollar franchise that would stand the test of time.
