There's a special number on the Celtics court

Whether you're watching from your couch or TD Gardens in Boston, there's a good chance you've noticed a number 6 painted on the basketball court's floor. During his time with the Celtics, Bill Russell led the team to 13 championships and 11 championship wins. As a center, he was unparalleled and easily spotted by the number 6 on his jersey. After his 2022 passing at age 88, the organization added the number to the floor to honor his memory and contributions to the team. If you look up to the top of the TD Gardens court, you'll see a special number there, too. When Larry Bird retired, his number 33 jersey was retired and hung from the roofing to watch over the court. The Celtics have been at TD Garden since 2015, when their home, Boston Garden, was shuttered. They share the arena with the Boston Bruins during the off-season.
