Twin flames throughout history
"Twin flames" might be a relatively new phrase, but the idea has been around for centuries. More than 2,000 years ago, the ancient Greek philosopher Plato was the first to hint at souls being split in half. He wrote, "Love is born into every human being; it calls back the halves of our original nature together." Even in ancient Greece, it seems that people were longing to find their "other half." That's not all — Plato also seemed to believe in the healing that can happen when you find your twin flame. He went on to write, "It tries to make one out of two and heal the wound of human nature." Plato might have been the first person to write about twin flames, but he certainly wasn't the last. More than 1,300 years later, the poet Rumi penned the legendary lines, "What you seek is seeking you," and, "Only the soul knows what love is." His words reinforce the fact that when you meet your twin flame, your souls will recognize each other.
