As a child, Eloise enjoyed learning everything she could about many subjects, though in those days the best resource was her grandma’s old stack of encyclopedias. Today, Eloise still likes to know a bit about everything, and when she’s not researching information for her Facty.com posts or flexing her history degree, she’s going through the quizzes of other authors on the site - because this is where the facts are found! Visitors to our site turn to Eloise’s fun and factual articles to learn about all kinds of things, from do-it-yourself ideas to the wider world. Those who prefer to get their facts in article format can find Eloise all across the web, as well. Did you know?

Who Was Noel Botham; the King of Useless Information?

Noel Botham was a British journalist and the author of "The Totally Awesome Book of Useless Information." Even though he had an illustrious career in journalism and writing biographies, Botham's useless book sold more than everything else. The funniest part about this is that much of the information inside the book was as untrue as it was useless. Even today, some of the erroneous "trivia" contained in his books is quoted as fact by publications as reliable and respected as The New York Times. After his death, The Daily Telegraph referred to him as one of the "hard-drinking reporters who made British newspapers the liveliest in the world."
