Are you ready to learn how much you really know about baseball? If you are, then this is the quiz for you! Because this quiz is like taking on a 100 mph fastball with two out in the ninth. You're either going to be a hero, or you'll be walking back to the dugout with your bat on your shoulder. This quiz will take you from the beginnings of baseball to Atlanta's world title in 2021. How much do you know about the New York Mutuals? What about the Isotopes? What position did Brian Snitker play? (You do know who Brian Snitker is, right?) Those are the types of questions you'll be answering in our baseball quiz. Some will be easy for you; some will be hard. Some might be impossible. You won't know until you get started.
Quiz Writer
Jake didn’t think he’d become a writer when he was growing up in southern Saskatchewan, Canada, but fate had another idea. After barely squeaking through grade 9 English, by the luck of the draw Jake found himself with the most inspiring literature instructor his small town had ever known, and grade 10 English changed his life! Suddenly, evenings once spent at the hockey rink were spent curled up on the couch with the best of Hemingway, Dickens, and John Grisham. A valedictorian address and English degree at the University of Regina later, Jake is proud to call Heywise his favorite place to pen informative quizzes about all his passion projects. If you’re reading a post and pick up a hint of classic English literature, you’re probably reading something by Jake - especially if you come away feeling like a slightly better person for it.
Did you know?
Pitchers and catchers. That's all you need to say to a baseball fan for them to know you're talking about spring training. Pitchers and catchers are the first players to report to spring training, which signifies the end of winter and the beginning of spring for baseball fans throughout the country. Do you know when the practice of spring training began? If not, you're not alone. The actual origin of spring training has been credited to several teams. The first is the New York Mutuals, who went to New Orleans in 1869. The Cincinnati Reds followed suit by training in New Orleans in 1870. In 1885 The Chicago White Stockings held spring training in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The White Sox won championships in 1885 and 1886, so other teams decided it would be a good idea to have spring training, which is when it all began.
