In addition to being an indicator of health, for many women, nails are an indicator of wealth as nothing screams that you have your life together more than a perfectly polished and manicured hand. Nail polish was invented around 5000 years ago by the Chinese who mixed gelatine and beeswax to make it. In Ancient Egypt, nail polish was used to signify class rankings. The lower class wore nude or light colors, and the high society painted their nails red-a color that remains iconic for nails even today. Nowadays, the most expensive bottle of nail polish in the world costs over $200,000 and is made with 267 karats of black diamonds in it!
