Did you know?

Are there different types of dependent personality disorders?

A dependent personality disorder is characterized by heavy reliance on other people to function. This includes day-to-day tasks and any major decisions in life. It’s a mental health issue that encompasses a wide variety of unhealthy attachment behaviors. Although it’s the dependency that defines the disorder, there are actually three different types. Co-dependent Dependence: This type of dependence is characterized by a person's excessive reliance on another, often to the detriment of their own needs and well-being. The co-dependent individual often feels responsible for the feelings, actions, and well-being of others, leading them to neglect their own needs. Maladaptive Dependent: People with maladaptive dependence exhibit an excessive need to be taken care of, leading to submissive and clinging behavior. They fear separation and may go to great lengths to maintain relationships even if they are unhealthy. High-functioning Dependent: While still exhibiting dependence, these individuals can function at a high level in society. They may have successful careers and appear independent, but they rely heavily on others for emotional support and decision-making.

In essence, while all three types involve reliance on others, the nature, intensity, and impact of that dependence vary.

How to Play?

Our personality quizzes are set up a little differently than your basic trivia quiz, but you’ve probably seen their kind around. Rather than having to choose the right answer from a list of multiple choice options, in this case, there is no “right answer”! (Two plus two will always be four, but every Golden Girls character is equally awesome.)

So, stop stressing. Just click on the answer that suits you best, and enjoy the ride. These quizzes are just for fun but who knows – you might just learn something about yourself along the way!
