Maybe you're of the firm belief that the woods are scary enough on their own, and you don't need any creepy stories to add to the chills. The forest has long been associated with transformation and mystery, the unknown and the supernatural. Lots of factors can affect escape, from fallen trees and dense bushes to cracking twigs that make it almost impossible to move quietly. It's not surprising authors and screenwriters have long chosen the woods as the location of all kinds of terrifying events, and despite the lasting fright, people still flock to read the books and watch the movies!
