Can You Pass a 1950s Home Economics Test?

Take a trip back to the days before air ovens, instant pots, and wi-fi. Just a few decades ago, most American school-aged children took home economics. These classes were primarily designed to teach young girls how to prepare for housekeeping as future wives, but boys learned essential domestic skills, too. Home economics curricula taught students cooking terms and methods, fashion and sewing basics, health and nutrition fundamentals, and ways to cultivate good grooming and manners. The pride of keeping an orderly home and cooking a nutritious and tasty meal are just a few of the manifold benefits of applied home economics training. Although some of the techniques that were popular back in the 1950s are not relevant today, we all can certainly use many of the tips that prior generations of children learned. Are you well-versed in the homemaking basics? Take this test to see if you know as much as a 1950s high schooler!
