Can you strut your stray cat style and get all these cat questions right? Cats might not be as vocal as dogs, but they have a lot going on that the common kitty lover might be surprised to know. Unless, of course, you're a cat expert.
When cats aren't sleeping, they're grooming, but they're far more complex than you might think. With more bones than the human body and a unique way of communicating, felines have more to offer than a lovable fluffy face. Since their brains also have an emotional sector like humans, they operate on a whole other level. Take your best shot at showing off your cat knowledge and see where you land.
As a child, Haven enjoyed learning everything they could about many subjects, though the best resource was her grandma’s old stack of encyclopedias in those days. Today, Haven still likes to know a bit about everything. When they're not researching information for their posts or flexing that history degree, Haven's going through the quizzes of other authors on the site - because this is where the facts are found! Visitors to our site turn to Haven's fun and factual articles to learn about all kinds of things, from do-it-yourself ideas to the wider world. Those who prefer to get their facts in article format can find Haven all across the web, as well.
While many people think that the Ancient Egyptians first domesticated cats, a recent discovery has linked pet cats to ancient Cyprus. In 2004, a team of French archeologists discovered a cat grave that dates back almost 9,500 years! That's not to say that the Ancient Egyptians didn't love cats — they did. In fact, many Egyptian deities are often depicted with images of cats. There are even cat mummies, paintings, and burials. That's not the strangest thing, though. Ancient Egyptians loved pet kitties so much that they had a strange way of showing their sorrow when they died. Regardless of how the cat was sent into the afterlife, many would shave their eyebrows as a sign of mourning.
So the next time your pet cat wakes you up at 3 am to refill a partially full food bowl, remember that it couldn't be as bad as shaving your eyebrows.
