Baseball is lauded by most as the great American sport. It is true. There’s nothing more American than eating a hot dog and watching a ball game on the 4th of July. Especially right before a firework show. Baseball began to rise in popularity at the beginning of the twentieth century, and even back during those days, the sport produced some incredible athletes. Ballplayers such as Ed Delahanty, Shoeless Joe Jackson, and Babe Ruth. Some of these great players even have records that still hold today.

That is not to say that there are not legendary baseball players in today’s game as well, though. Players like Nolan Arenado, Clayton Kershaw, and Albert Pujols continue to break barriers in the sport every season. They hit more grand slams and pitching more no-hitters as their craft evolves. If you live in the United States, you have probably heard of most of these players in passing. But how many baseball legends do you really know? Take this quiz to find out!

Did you know?

What was the Black Sox Scandal?

This scandal was the infamous incident when eight members of the Chicago White Sox were accused of fixing the 1919 World Series against the reds to get money from a gambling syndicate led by Arnold Rothstein. This lead to the creation of the Commissioner of Baseball position to restore integrity to the game and Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis was appointed to this position. Landis permanently banned all eight players from the game, which included Shoeless Joe Jackson. Despite efforts to get rid of the ban, he remains barred from entering the Hall of Fame to this day.
