Way back in 1983, an American psychologist by the name of Howard Gardener determined there is no single kind of intelligence. Instead, he reasoned, there are as many as nine types: spatial, natural, musical, logical-mathematical, existential, interpersonal, bodily-kinesthetic, linguistic, and intra-personal. Gardener believed each of these types of intelligence is useful in its own way. Even though we may clamor to be smart like Sheldon or Howard (logical-mathematical), Gardener asserted that every one of us can interpret the world in an equally valid way; our intelligence type gives each of us a unique perspective.
